Title Research: Venom

Hey guys welcome back to our blog, today we will be researching the movie 'Venom.' We were looking around 'artofthetitle' and found this great opening sequence. 

1. What titles are displayed during the title sequence?

The opening title sequence of "Venom" effectively opens up the movie and celebrates the hard work of the filmmakers. In the titles shown, you can see how the titles are designed to fit the sick, awesome, eery, tone of the film. The titles include the director, editors, sound editors, people who made the soundtrack, visual editors, producers, and much more. The titles displayed are in a disorganized font which perfectly fits with the movie.

2. What images are prioritized in the title sequence?

The images that are prioritized are that of the main character, Venom. There are also lots of scenes from the film that are visually appealing that were introduced into an animation with no story behind it. All the artistic and abstract images prioritized in the film also establishes the overall theme effectively.  There are also plenty of visual effects which highlights the capabilities of the filmmakers themselves. Of course there were plenty of logos, such as the marvel logo to give credit and promote their brand.

3. What connotations do these images carry?'

There are a number of connotations that these prioritized images Cary.  First of all, the connotation of danger is heavily expressed throughout these images. This is done to enforce the idea that Venom is a threatening character; they want to ensure that. The way the images are presented are also complex, which highlights Venoms Character as well. Venom is a misunderstood character, and it can be difficult establishing if he's a hero or a villain. These images also give a powerful, dark, connotation as well. Venom is someone who is eery yet very powerful and these images give that feeling. There is also some excitement as well because this is a marvel film after all. 

4. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

The text used are very bold and dynamic with high-contract colors to the black background or vice versa which creates the sense of energy and excitement for this action film. All of the graphics used also give that superhero movie feeling as well which come from the action genre. The music also plays a dominant role in establishing the genre. The song used©ggg helps create that fast, aggressive, action type of feeling, although this can give more of a thriller vibe as well. The way the film's title is presented also helps establish the identity of an action film.

5. What strategies ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
The film ensures to highlight key action and special effects which appeals to the fans of the action and superhero genres. The film also uses their iconic brand logos to appeal to the fans as well. The style of the graphics also can be compared to comic books which is the movies roots. The exciting colors and editing also appeals to those who are younger. 

6. How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions, and editing techniques

Technology has been use effective in a number of ways 

Camera Angles: In this title sequence specifically, there are a number of close-ups and extreme close-ups to emphasize the details of Venom and what he is composed of. There is also an aerial shot used in the beginning to show the scope of the setting.

Transitions and editing techniques: The sequence using transitions to have a seamless flow between different shots. This can include fades, dissolves, wipes. Additionally they use more complex effects such as particle transitions. A number of jump-cuts also help establish the pacing of the movie. The sound use gives a sense of suspense with action along the way.
