Creative Critical Reflection

Creative Critical Reflection     1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent   social groups or issues?    My music video uses conventions by using Christmas editing transitions and effects. In a stereotypical music video, there are plenty of fade-ins and fade-outs related to Christmas . In my music video I took advantage of that and applied them. I also used conventions by playing the stereotypical Santa Claus story. My song for this music video is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” by the Jackson Five. I highlighted what Santa does which is to make sure everyone is behaving , and in reward he gives them presents. In my music video, my props consisted of presents, teddy bears, and Santa’s sack. All of these are the typical toys Santa gives children. There were many ways I went against conventions as well. In Christmas music videos, the actors are usually in some magical Christmas wonderland . Since I don’t have the resources to acquire a greenscr

Music Video is in Town!

It is finally finished! Here is my music video! This was a long process with a lot of hard work, but we had fun doing it. There was a lot of adversity I had to face with my group while recording but my group and I pushed through. Thank you to everyone that helped put this music video together and I hope you all enjoy it! My favorite part of this process was acting it out. This is Hunter Pangia signing out.

Still working on it

Hey everyone this is Hunter Pangia signing in and welcome back to another blog! I've been working closely with Robert on editing the music video and the music video is almost finished. After collecting and reviewing all the clips I have, I can say that my group and I have all the necessary shots for this music video. In our first scene a tilt is used to open up the music video. A few scenes later we use a pan shot to sweep the scene and transition into the next verse of the song. Additionally, the music video should meet the time requirement of 1:10-1:15 seconds. I have all the clips and with the proper editing, the music video should all come together and flow nicely. Here are some editing ideas that me and Robert came up with. I was thinking that for the first scene we should use a fade in with a curtain opening the scene. I already inserted some light effects that makes us light up which is cool. Another radical idea I came up with was using some dissolve editing for the sleepi

We filmed!

Hey everyone this is Hunter Pangia signing in and welcome back to another blog! I have done the impossible, I have filmed my music video. I arrived at approximately 1:37 pm at the Galleria mall entrance. I was carrying a large duffel bag and I looked like a maniac as I was waiting for the rest of my crew to arrive. Eventually, my friends that I asked to come showed up at approximately 1:47 pm.  I was very grateful that the five of my friends showed up because of serious unfortunate events occurred. The first event that occurred was that two of my teammates bailed on me last minute. Anayah claims that her parents were "out of town" which was bad because she's the manager. Billy was a crucial actor because he would create diversity and he didn't show up. With this I had to take charge of what I had with my handy-dandy cameraman Robert Miller. Robert miller had 2 overnight shifts and he still managed to show up although he was an hour late. When he got here he only had

Tis the Music Video

Hey everyone this is Hunter Pangia back with another blog and welcome back! This weekend is the weekend that I film and I am very excited. I have been keeping in contact with everyone that's going to be in the music video to make sure everyone is on track. So far, there is only two people that can't make it for the music video. I have thought of some great ideas that will elevate our music video. One of my ideas is having someone who is Jewish play the role of Santa Claus. Typically, there wouldn't be a Jewish person as Santa Claus but this is how we are going against conventions. In todays society anyone should be able to play any role they want, this doesn't mean they are going against what they believe in. In our music video we will also be having older students play the role of little kids. This goes against the convention of little kids being in music videos. By doing this, I am also fighting against ageism. With this music video there are some concerns that I wan

Some Changes

Image
Hey everyone this is Hunter Pangia signing in and welcome back to another blog! This weekend has been hectic to say the very least. Plans have changed for the music video slightly, the weekend was fun, until I got food poisoning. Nothing will stop me from moving forward and improving, however. So with all that being said, in today's blog, I will be explaining everything I listed. First of all, my group and I have had to move the date back for the music video filming to the day after we regularly scheduled. My group and I can't film at our regularly scheduled time mainly because of my cameraman, Robert. My friend Robert has work from 7.PM to 5 A.M at a food truck on Friday night and Saturday night. The day I'm supposed to film is Saturday so there is an issue with that. I am trying to produce a high-quality music video so it would be no good for my cameraman not to have the proper rest. Proper sleep is important for this type of job because you need the proper focus to be a

Putting it together

Hey everyone this is Hunter Pangia signing in and welcome back to another blog! After another week I still haven't filmed my music video but I've been productive none the less. This week I joined high school track for the first time. Practice was not as intense as I thought although it was still really intense. I don't think it was very intense because the track coaches put the football team through their workouts last summer. I enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. Last year after football I did wrestling and I met a lot of great people as well. On top of this I learned some skills along with enhancing my mental toughness. This year I wanted to get faster and more athletic which is why I wanted to join track. I do get sore from practice but it's worth the "tracking" shots.  When I was running the track coach walked up to me and asked me to do field events as well. This includes discus, shotput, and other events of that sort. I will now be going
