Movie Convention Research 'Avengers End Game'
Hey everyone! We all hope you are having a great day and welcome back to another blog! In today's blog we will be diving in and looking at the movie elements of one of the most grossed movies in the recent years 'Avengers End Game.' This movie uses a lot of conventions and I will be explaining just what they use. This movie uses the convention of a good guy fighting a bad guy. In the movie you have a group of heroes known as The Avengers who fight to stop the villain known as Thanos. This movie tells their story through action and has the typical idea of a villain trying to take over the world, in this case, a villain trying to takeover the universe. This movie also uses a lot of stereotypical superhero costumes as well. Some heroes wear capes like Doctor Strange and others are in a suit with weapons like Ironman for example. The height of action is through the roof with this film. In almost every science there is some type of fight going on which is typical of an action movie. They use a lot of fake explosions, CGI, and actual skills used to make the fight scenes happen. They go above and beyond conventions by using technology to make these fight scenes come Tom life. While this is true most of the sound effects used are from older movies as well. They used the usual sound effects that go 'boom', 'bam', and 'vroom.' This movie does however go against the convention of females not having power in a superhero world. Characters like Wanda for example are one of the most powerful beings in the entire saga. This divest into the modern day idea of women empowerment and inspires young woman across the world. This movie is also very diverse with the characters races, backgrounds, and ethnicities. This movie also goes against conventions because it has multiple superheroes. It is unusual for more than one superhero to be a part of a movie but Avengers Endgame does a great job of utilizing these characters. Instead of focusing on one characters development this movie likes to cross cut and even jump cut to make sure they can establish each character.
After analyzing the conventions we can say that we enjoy the conventions of the use of more than one superhero, in fact there are hundreds of heroes in the movies. We love how the directors are able to integrate all of these characters into one movie and make something that we find special. They are able to utilize all of these characters and we believe this is a convention that we can possibly use in our opening sequence. Another convention we enjoy is the using woman to display power, we can see this playing a part in our opening sequence as well.
Some elements that we don't enjoy is the typical good guy/ bad guy scenario. The plot is very complexed yet very straightforward and we believe our group can create more meaning through our plot with more plot twist. Superhero movies are always known to end with the superheroes winning but our group can see us having a plot where the villain wins.
